Making it in Hollywood: Who are your buyers?

In a previous blog about asking the right questions, I mentioned that in order to sell anything, you must know your buyers. So, who are your buyers? Your buyers are anyone you speak to or meet with about your career, your idea or script, or a job. When you are having these conversations or meetings, your buyer is not the audience that you hope will eventually see your movie or performance. The goal of the audition, pitch, or meeting is to get to the next step. Is that next step a callback, a request to read your script, a second meeting, or an intro to someone else? Stay focused on your immediate goal rather than your long-term dreams, and you’re more likely to engage the buyer and succeed in moving one step closer to your ultimate goal.
